…whether it’s my new favorite “object-obsession” or some exciting news via the blog-o-sphere…
— Alyson Kuhn of Felt and Wire fame sent along this electronic heads up: the new Abstract Expressionist stamps are out! They are gorgeous and can be ordered online via the Postal Store. Or you could take a risk and see if they’re in stock at your local USPS branch…
— Finally, finally! Whirligig has published the long-awaited interview with Carolee and myself. Do you have unasked questions for Pod Post? Wondering about our artistic processes? Thinking about rolling up your sleeves and making a zine? Then wander over and take a look. Carolee suggests taking a break in the middle, and I agree with her: we both have alot to say…
— I may have told y’all, or I may have not: w-a-a-a-y back in November of 2009 (2009 — remember?!) the National Postal Museum interviewed yours truly and Miss Carolee. Entitled “Take A Break From Tweeting and Send Mail Art”, the article highlights some of the basic-simples of making mail art, the process of putting together a book like “Good Mail Day”, and how the act of sending correspondence really can make a difference.
— my object of obsession for this week: I would go anywhere for this bag. I mean it. I love handbags already, and this pretty much seals the deal. My birthday’s in April, if it’s a deal-breaker. The words “out of stock” should merely represent a unique and singular challenge.
In all things postal, I remain:

Thanks for the stamp info. One of them is a Hans Hoffman. Yes!
Mr. M. —
I was thinking about you when I found out that those AE stamps came out — yay for Hoffman!
PS: just watched the documentary “Herb and Dorothy” via Netflix; I think you would enjoy it…
i watched herb and dorothy! it was astonishing how much art was crammed into their apartment…
Miss A. — how funny! Herr Baron and I just watched “Herb and Dorothy” also. I loved it. Such a great documentary about two folks who are incredibly, honestly devoted to modern art. And I agree: seeing their apartment was a total trip.

jennie – i loved reading the whirligig interview! it was nice and long and it almost made me late to school. (oops)
Miss Annie — late to class, with a good reason. 🙂 The interview itself is so long that perhaps it could be considered a book report! Glad to hear that you enjoyed Nanette’s article…
Plunkett ? Is it here that you want answers ? 🙂
Miss A. — Ed was in on it, but Ray J. really got the ball rolling…however, I’m hoping that you and I will have a bit of correspondence ourselves, post-Social!

Excellente! Congrats, Danielle, and thanks, Jennie, for sending something my way to make a happy mail day here in Florida!
Miss A. — you are more than very-welcome! Great to have you over here at the blog, as well as see you around the Social!

Dear Jennie –
A short story for you about THAT DIVINE BAG…
Once upon a time last summer, I’m pretty sure I hyperventilated when i first saw it somewhere online. And pretty sure I thought of anti-depressants when I found it was sold out. Life was suddenly bleak and grey. Even thoughts of Oz and somewheres over rainbows were just… pointless. “What was the point of going ON?!” I asked myself. Yes, it was a sad, desolate time of life.
Then.
I was on a little trip to a city called Dublin. In the Emerald Isles. And there, in a charming shop called Avoca (which has a website…), I saw IT. The Bag. THE BAG! Exchange rate? What exchange rate? Who cares! MUST. OWN. BAG.
And so I do. And I LOVE IT. {Happy and Blissful sighs}
The End.
Sincerely,
Christine
Miss Christine —
Wow wow wow! Your story gives me hope. One of my super-stealthy mail art minions found another “bag source”, so I think I’m in clover! Glad to hear that your story has a happy ending, and that you absolutely adore your bag! 🙂
