I can’t believe that the month of August is half over — where has the month gone?!?! In July, I mentioned to the Baron that it seemed as if the pending month of August had already taken place; now that August is here (and I’m in the middle of it), I feel even more so. My mum always said I would end up feeling this way, and guess what: she was right.
I’ve been teaching in a variety of places lately…
…and there’s still two or three spots left in tomorrow night’s class. (class takes place on 08.17.11) The lovely folks over at Refinery 29 had some wonderful things to say about the Press classes yesterday…
I’m also in the midst of getting ready for the SF Zinefest, which I talked about in the “What’s This Thing Called A Zine?” post a couple weeks ago. I’m putting together some new goodies — including the long awaited (and maybe even forgotten) “lost” issue of Red Letter Day. I’m hustling like mad to get the articles written, and the covers into production.
In addition to the SF Zinefest at the beginning of September, I’ll be taking part in the NY Art Book Fair at the end of September — I’m SO EXCITED. Yes, I am. In addition to the book fair, I’ll be stopping by the Grey Gallery at NYU to check out the “Fluxus and the Essential Questions of Life” show (what an unwieldy title…) as well as the “Lists” show at the Morgan Library (the book is excellent, and if you’re into that sort of thing, well worth having.)
That’s most of my “big news” for now…if you’re in SF on Labor Day weekend, I’d love to see you at the Zinefest. And if you’re on the east coast or NYC — hopefully I’ll get to see you at the book fair. Has anyone attended in person? If so, I’d love to hear your thoughts! 🙂
Leaving a trail of paper and postage wherever I go —

You are one busy and lovely lady. Miss Jennie. I plan on swinging by the Zine Fest again this year so save a copy for me. And i love that shot Nick too at the book class — and love that black & white skirt too.
Miss Pamela —
I’m glad to hear that you’ll be coming by the Zinefest! I think there will be a good amount of fun photos for you to take…and it’s the 10 year anniversary, so I bet there will be some festivities happening too! (cake? a group cheer? presents for hard working vendors? 😉 )

Ah, Jennie, how can it be August 16 already?! I agree!
Let’s fill up those class spots for tomorrow night!! If you love books, Jennie H., hand sewing, paper, Press (Works on Paper), Noe Valley/Mission area – or just learning something new, you must come Wednesday night to Jennie’s class!! 😀 She’s an excellent teacher, a joy to be with and to learn from! So, make that ca-ching sound to sign up for the class 🙂 ~ Well worth it.~~ (She didn’t pay me for any of this).
I also noticed the Cadeux and said “hey, that looks like mine…,” and it is!! Lovely to see it pre-post.
Miss Gina —
I’m blushing! Shucks…you make it so easy, such a fun student and wunderbar postal person… 🙂

I read about the bookbinding class on Refinery29, and just signed both me and my husband up for tomorrow night! We’re visiting from out of town for a week, and this seems like a fun way to spend an evening of our vacation. We’re looking forward to it!
Miss Lisli —
Wowee! Welcome to SF — a whole week in town! I’m thrilled that you’ll be spending one of those evenings over at Press, with Nick and I (and a whole group of book-loving folks). Looking forward to meeting you this eve and hearing about your current adventures while you’ve been visiting our fair (and foggy) city…
Were you (by any chance) here for Outside Lands?

I am so excited for you that you will be heading to New York!!! Looks like the class was into it…I think a good teacher helps! (think I am bias?)
Mom
Mum —
🙂 They were an awesome group — and alot of fun! I even had an ex-student from the Academy, which was a treat. It was a nice mix of folks I knew and people I’d never met before, so that kept things lively and entertaining…
As for NYC, well, we’ll be talking more about that in person. Suffuce to say, I’m THRILLED.
