Here’s wishing all of you, dear readers a very merry holiday and a joyous new year! My wish for each of you in 2012? A pleasantly full mailbox, a bevvy of new correspondents, and an endless stream of inspiring mail art.
With a glass of celebratory champagne in one hand, and a sheaf of letters in the other –

PS: did any of you leave holiday gifties for your postal person, either in your mailbox or in person, at the PO counter? If the answer is “yes”, let us know!
PPS: the above image is for Pamela over at Cappuccino And Art Journal, as I know she collects such fabulousness…

Yes! Actually for the very first time ever. I left her a $20 gift card to Jamba Juice and a KitKat bar, along with a thank you card for excellent service this year.
I also sent a thank you letter to the guy at the post office who usually handles my mail. I sent it anonymously so he will always wonder which of the people he is dealing with was the one who cared to thank him.
Basykes — such thoughtful gifts! The optimist in me hopes that by leaving Christmas treats in my PO box, my post-person will somehow give my mail extra special love and attention. I mean, who wouldn’t love a giftcard or homemade brownies? You may have a new BFF.
As for sending an anonymous “thank you” to your local branch, I LOVE it! What a great idea…if I had received such a card, I’d put it up in my cubby at work, so that each time I helped a customer I would be reminded and think to myself “was it her? how about that guy?” — sort of like a game, to keep things interesting…
Thanks for sharing!

A very Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays & Happy New Year to you & thanks for all you do to promote snail mail! (And for hosting that great holiday mail party.
)
We always give our mail carrier some kind of gift card (Peet’s Coffee & Tea this year) & today he brought our mail to our door to say thank you. I love Bev Sykes’ idea of mailing an anonymous gift though. Maybe next year.
We always give Clyde a gift card to some local place. This year, we’ve decided to wait until it’s a bit calmer for her and make it a New Year’s note.
JH — well, thank you et merci for the French mailman card! You won’t believe this but I have a card of the SAME French guy in a different pose! So funny….
Our carriers change too often to know who they are, but I did give some of the ladies in the post office little boxes of candy, courtesy of the candy maker, E.
